Diabetics at Pizza Hut
Pizza is neither a great meal nor the worst for diabetes. All you need is some fact check and monitoring while ordering your pizza. Diabetics can opt for thin crust or skinny pizza at Pizza Hut and avoid the cheese topping to cut down on the excess fat and sodium. If you have diabetes, then ensure to check your portion size when you order a pizza. One or max. two slices are enough. You can also avoid meat if possible and go for wings as a meat option.
Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for Diabetics:
You must avoid Meat Lovers Pizza with Original Pan Crust as it contains over 1000mg sodium and will add 470 calories in your meal. You should also skip Super Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice which is too high in sodium and fat. Chicken wings are often tempting but you must control and restrict yourself from ordering Traditional Honey BBQ Bone-in Wings as it can add up to your sugar levels if you eat too many. On average, a person orders or consumes six chicken wings pieces in a day.
Sides must be avoided at all costs especially if it's Bacon Cheddar Fries with Ranch Dipping Cup for its high sodium content. You must also avoid New York Style Cheesecake with Applesauce as dessert as one slice of this dessert item contains 86g sugar. Pizza Hut also offers other Italian dishes such as Pasta. However, you must skip Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Meatballs and Garlic Bread as it is too high in sodium and sugar.

High Cholesterol at Pizza Hut
Whether large, medium or small, a pizza can boost your cholesterol levels instantly. You shouldn't eat more than one slice of any pizza your order at Pizza Hut. You can also try pasta at Pizza Hut but ensure that you are not adding any dressing or extra cheese as you order pasta.

Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

My favorite pizza place in STL hands down (sorry Pi). The brick oven pizzas here are what you would expect at a high end restaurant in Italy. Love the family feel!!

There was nobody at the Tivoli when we arrived about 5:30 Thursday. They deserve better. This is a cute little place and the pizza is of the had-tossed, brick oven variety. New mozzarella is used in globs. Not sure I understand the appeal as compared with regular old Mozzarella. It did work, though. We had a pepperoni pizza and it tasted pretty good. Ten bucks, enough for two, done in a couple of minutes - not bad at all. Service was excellent - very friendly. They replaced my daughter's drink with a big smile when she said it tasted funny. Parking is on the street and parallel. If we lived in the neightborhood, we might be regulars.

What a fun neighborhood restaurant. I ordered the #5 Funghi pizza complete with mushrooms, fontina cheese, mozzerella, arugula and shaved parmigiano. The crust was thin and chewy with a slight crunch. It tasted very fresh and was gone in a few minutes. The service was excellent starting with a greeting from the owner/chef to the full wait staff. Special shoutouts to Kendal and Lance. Without question I will return.
(4)Isaiah S.
Food is SO good and the customer service is AMAZING, Kendall is so nice and fun; great server. BUT the outside seating is now 'smoking friendly', which I understand people are allowed to smoke of course BUT when I'm enjoying my #19 pizza, which is stellar, having smoke in my face is not ideal. I highly recommend this small gem in St. Louis Hills, but just be aware that it is 'smoking friendly' outside.

Great pizza and dessert! Was told by a friend that their pizza is the best/ closest to authentic Italian pizza. Couldn't agree more! I stuck with the Margarita pizza as that was my favorite pizza when in Italy and though it's not 100% it's pretty darn close! My friend had the tivoli pizza which she loved. Waitress was very friendly and attentive throughout our dining experience. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone!
(5)Ron B.
I can not believe this place is right down the street. Some how I missed it. Fantastic- everything.
(5)Amber R.
This was the first time I have been here. Overall I am impressed. I got a number 11 and it was very good. The crust was thin and flaky. I liked the bbq sauce they used. The Caesar salad was huge, big enough for three people to split. The pizzas came out really fast. The server, however was slow. I never received a refill on my drink which was a little upsetting. We waited a very long time for our check too. However, I will return and recommend my friends and family.

Visited here a few nights ago after finding the wait at the nearby Onesto to be pretty unbearable. We immediately walked in and were seated. The appetizer menu could use some help, no bread sticks or similar items, bruschetta was pretty much the only option. We opted for salads instead, and the Caesar was fantastic!! Lots of Parmesan, easily the best Caesar I've had in town. For Pizza we opted for the Quatro Formaggi with a few additional toppings. Overall, pretty good pizza, with excellent crust and sauce. Not as much selection as I would have liked, and not as much fun as nearby Onesto, but a good pizza joint overall.

I have had Pizzaria Tivoli on my list to try for quite a while and was very excited to finally give it a try. It has all the makings of a great place - unique offerings that you can't really get at other restaurants in close proximity and a small mom and pop feel that always makes for a good experience. I gotta say, the food was wonderful, but the service was pretty bad. And, unfortunately, bad service usually trumps wonderful food in the dining experience. Here's why: Not only did they bring me the wrong pizza, but when I said that it wasn't what I ordered, there was no explanation other than "I'll be right back." I just kind of sat there in limbo waiting, not really sure what was going on, until a new one arrived. Then I heard another server behind us yelling at the kitchen repeatedly that he needed two more Caesar salads, then proceeded to yell across the restaurant to his table that they have to wait for their salads because someone picked them up and delivered them to another table. The way it was handled was completely inappropriate and for the entire restaurant to hear. Pizzaria Tivoli is cute and the food's good, but service needs a swift kick in the rear to get up to par.
(3)Richard B.
It's great! Fun little place just to relaxs. Wonderful Pizzas! Brick oven made pizza..
(5)Cory H.
Pizzeria Tivoli has unique pizzas that are the most similar to actual Italian pizzas that I've had outside of Italy! Not real well known as far as I can tell, but the food here is really good!
(4)Andrew N.
I really like this place. The inside is small with limited seating, but the pizza is fantastic. It's more true Italian style, with fresh mozzarella, brick-oven baked crust and fresh, homemade sauce. The crust is amazing -- chewy on the inside, crispy on the outside and has a great flavor. I got the salsiccia pizza and was impressed, but they have so many options, anyone should be able to find something on the menu. They have several craft beer and imports options, and a decent wine list. The gf tried the Merlot by the glass ($6) which was a generous pour, but wasn't a very good wine. I can see this place getting a bump up to a 5 star after I visit again. Also -- they play Italian music which makes you feel like you're in a little Italian pizzeria (without the water charge). Pros: great pizza, intimate setting, good service Cons: the Merlot by the glass was bad
(4)Sean H.
Awesome place! The beer list is good... a few micros on tap. The Caesar salad we had was great (big enough for my wife an I to split), and the pizza tasted great. We got the meat pizza... good quality ingredients, fresh mozzarella, wood-fired brick oven... wonderful. If I had to pick something I didn't enjoy about our food, I noticed the center of our pizza was a little soggy. But, it really wan't a big deal. Beer, salad, and a pizza... walked out of there for less than $30 (incl tip). Awesome. We're heading back... frequently. Great atmosphere, too... can't wait to try the patio once the weather cools down.
(4)Becky P.
Fresh, amazing, warm, inviting, wonderful taste and very kind workers!!!

Mmm . . . pizza! You don't have to ask me twice if I want pizza. Who doesn't like some delicious za on occasion? Last night we gave Pizzeria Tivoli a shot, and it was quite satisfying! My dad gave us a thirty dollar gift certificate to this place, and I wasn't going to hesitate on using it. Pizzeria Tivoli has twenty different 12-inch specialty pizzas, all in the the $10-$15 range. Our voucher allowed us to try two of the pizzas, so we chose the Villa Adrianna and Tuto-Carne! The Adrianna was a barbeque chicken pizza covered with red onions. Very nice! However, we both agreed that the Tuto-Carne, meat pizza, was our favorite. The slices of Italian sausage were delightful, and the chucks of mozzarella were pretty awesome. In reality, one pizza was more than enough for two people. We ended up taking a whole one home. Pizzeria Tivoli is pretty far south on Kingshighway, and it's easy to miss when travelling on those wavering roads. We had to double back. Also, the place is awfully tiny. They ask that you call ahead with large groups because I can assume that the space could be a big issue on a busy evening. Otherwise, it's a cute, tiny pizzeria in South City. Looking for some new za? Give Pizzeria Tivoli a chance!
(4)Lindsay W.
During baseball playoff season we frequented the Tivoli because of their covered patio with projector screen. It proved to be a great place to enjoy neighbors, great food, and baseball without the sports bar feel.
(5)Anthony A.
Wife and I have been going to Pizzeria Tivoli for a while now. We enjoyed bringing our dog and eating on the patio. Tonight, a Tuesday, I brought the pup to the empty patio and we were told, Dogs are not welcome. How is there a restaurant with outdoor seating in south city which won't allow dogs? The pizza was okay always better than average. I suppose they can be successful without my family's business. Tivoli, you lost a good customer when no one else was there on a Tuesday.
(1)dillon n.
This is a favorite for my wife and I. They home-make every pizza with fresh ingredients and bake it in a brick-oven. They have one of my favorite beers, Zwickel on tap. Good price, good food and good beer, I highly recommend!
(5)Carla N.
By far the most amazing pizza. Awesome service. Incredible wood fired goodness. All natural and tasty ingredients. Great beer and wine list. Come here once and you will be back. Try the lasagna!
(5)Michael T.
This was my second time here. This is quickly becoming my favorite pizza joint in St Louis. The Tivoli salad was fresh and delicious. All of the pizzas I've tried have been on point. Will definitely be going back.
(5)S. W.
We tried this place on a Groupon on a Thursday night. It's a small pizzeria with limited seating. The setup is fitting for the establishment. The owner's wife waited on us. She was pleasant. We ordered the antipasto which is plenty large for 2 people as an appetizer. It was very tasty and well worth $9. I loved the variety and size! We split a pepperoni pizza which was plenty after sharing the appetizer. It was disappointing though for a wood fire pizza. The flavor was lacking. The crust had a nice flavor and the mozzarella cheese was good but the sauce and pepperoni seemed soo generic, like something was missing. The pies were 10inches and for the price you'd expect a far better product. Don't try this place without a Groupon.
(2)Julianne H.
Each time we go here we enjoy the quality of the pizza. Last night we decided to go because we were too tired to cook and sick of leftovers. I was so tired I ordered the wrong pizza (dummy!) and since I don't eat meat it wasn't something I could work around. They made a new pizza for me without hesitation. There aren't too many places that offer that kind of service. It is a wonderful family run business so please give it a try!
(5)Leah Z.
I came here on a Friday night and waited to get a table. There were at least 5 tables empty on the patio but the waiter kept walking by us (delivering food) instead of acknowledging us waiting by the "Please wait to be seated" sign. So, I ended up saying "hey! Um is there a hostess?" And he cut me off and barked "ok now wait, we only have two servers and we're overloaded and I'll be with you in a minute." He sounded pissed... Honestly it really unsettled me to be barked at when I just wanted to be acknowledged (I don't mind waiting, once I know I've been noticed!) We ended up being seated soon afterwards, we got some wine, the tivoli salad and pizzas. They were all really good, and the waiter apologized and explained how busy they were right before we arrived (but also said that since it cleared out before we arrived, we got lucky. Lucky? *biting my tongue*). He was extra friendly the whole time we were there (probably because he heard me sniffling because I was so shocked he barked at me). But regardless, I don't plan on going back - ever. I like to be treated better.
(2)Katie R.
Went here for the first time tonight. The pizza was good and I'd highly recommend it. We got the margarita pizza and BBQ chicken pizza. I have no complaints whatsoever about our food. Our server however wasn't friendly. He didn't look at us and was always eager to leave the table. We didn't even get any refills and they were empty before he dropped off our pizza. It'd give it a 5 if our service was better.
(3)Kelly B.
Pizzeria Tivoli is a small, family owned Princeton Heights neighborhood pizzeria with rustic homemade traditional style Italian pizzas that are made in a wood-burning oven. The crusts are hand tossed and crispy. They use mostly mozzarella cheese. I had the shrimp pesto pizza ($13), which was very tasty. I like the traditional style because it's not too heavy with ingredients. You can really taste the freshness of each item. We also had the bruschetta ($6), which was fresh, but a little difficult to eat because the bread was so thick. Overall, I enjoyed my experience. Pizzeria Tivoli sits on the quiet end of South Kingshighway on a treelined side street and they have a nice outdoor patio with lots of outdoor seating. Update: Thanks for the comment Janez, but honestly, I haven't been that impressed with your other appetizers and the bruschetta is not easy to eat since the thickness of the bread changes each time I come and it is usually too thick to bite into and hold together once I am able to bite through it. I like the topping on it, but I'll stick with the pizza. You may want to consider editing the appetizers a bit and having something that is light and not breaded. Something that would compliment pizza rather than substitute.
(4)Richard V.
This place is awesome for the brick oven style pizza. Small place you come by enough owner knows you by name. A must stop if you are in the neighborhood.
(5)Joe B.
The best kept secret in South St. Louis. Went here last night on whim & I couldn't have been more pleased. The owner was there and extremely nice and warm. He sat us down immediately and allowed my daughter to draw on the paper table cloth. The food was out of this world. I started with what was the most amazing "garlic bread" I have ever had. I used quotation marks because calling it garlic bread is a disservice. It was absolutely amazing. It was the last appetizer on the menu. Order it. You want be sorry. Then we had the Tivoli. It was a presto sauce pizza with chicken, roasted red peppers, and artichoke. Simply amazing. You could taste the freshness. I can't recommend this place enough. It was affordable and extremely tasty.
(5)Sean R.
I used to live literally right across the street from here. I always ordered and picked up said orders. The pizza's were always fantastic and a nice change from commercial delivery pizzas. The owners were always very nice to me on all of my visits and always went out of their way to make sure everything was how it was expected. Pizza was worth every penny.
(4)Mark S.
Cozy pizza place with some unique offerings. The caprese salad was the best I've ever had-they use roasted red peppers instead of tomatoes. Service was great.
(4)Julie I.
This is my absolute favorite place for pizza! If I were in Italy I imagine this is what pizza tastes like! I love that everything is fresh and tastes amazing! The tivoli salad is delicious and we usually share it with a pizza and it's the perfect amount of food for us. The pizza...crust is chewy, crunchy and delicious! The sauce tastes fresh and it has the perfect amount. I love that they use sliced sausage instead of crumbled sausage. The bacon had a maple flavor that really worked with the other ingredients! The cheese is sliced mozzarella and such better quality and really adds to the flavor. We aren't really pizza people, but we crave this pizza and recommend it to everyone!
(5)Amie N.
Absolutely delicious! Good thing I live walking distance from this place because I'm coming here once a week. Owner is a super nice guy, pizza is amazing. Also try the mezza-luna. Gorgonzola cheese, tomato sauce, yummy crack stuff he had to have put in there. Can't say enough good stuff. By the way they also carry the Abbey of Saint Hillaire by the bottle for $23! Pizza and wine. Best plan ever!
(5)Linda D.
Food was ok, a bit pricy for what you get. I ordered a salad for dinner and my husband ordered pizza, asked for them to come out together but salad came out 20 minutes before pizza and it got soggy as we waited. The server was very unpleasant and rude. Seemed to be very unhappy about working. First and last time there.
(1)Michael S.
This is great pizza for the price. It's almost Neapolitan pizza, center of the crust isn't as wet as a true neopolitan pizza place, and most will prefer that. Pizzas are cooked in a wood oven. We would go to Pi Pizza right by our house, but it's way too expensive for two pizzas. They have gluten free pizza crust available for those allergic to wheat. My wife says the gluten free pizza is good for you celiac peeps.

I really enjoyed this place. The prices were fair and the pizza was AMAZING. I'm partial to pizza cooked in a wood fire oven and love Margarita pizza. We will definitely be going back!

No one was really around when we got there (around 1 hr 15 min before close). The guy who took care of us seemed to be the owner, and he was incredibly friendly. We had the caprese salad, which was delicious, though set up a little differently than I was expecting. I would say it needed more tomatoes, but we all know I was really just in it for the cheese. I had to talk the boy into the Tivoli pizza because apparently broccoli doesn't belong on pizza. Both of us loved it. I also always like if I'm able to admire the wood fired oven from the dining room. Pros: pizza, friendly service Cons: seating options (probably worse if busy)

A while back my hubby and I noticed this place while we were out one night and after yelping it we added it to our must try list. We ended up finding a groupon and were very excited. We called to place a carry out order as we have a one year old and were rudely informed that for the groupon we had to dine in even though that was not stated anywhere on the groupon website or offer. We weren't thrilled by the phone interaction but had no other option so as soon as we had a night with a sitter we made our way there. It was a Friday night and there were people on the patio and a crowd inside so we opted to eat on the patio. It took a bit for our server to get to us but he was very nice. We had the bruscetta as an app and we ordered the 4 cheese and the pepperoni pizzas for our dinner. The bruscetta was not good. It tasted like canned tomatoes with way too much vinegar and the bread could have chipped a tooth. While we waited...and we waited FOREVER...we watched several people get turned away at the door because they were running too far behind. The people at the table next to us gave up and left after over 30 min. We were close to calling it quits when after an hour our pizzas finally arrived. That's an hour AFTER we got out bruscetta. The 4 cheese was delicious...until you got into the center. The center was very soggy. The pepperoni pizza was good but also soggy. The people who were next to us and left told us the wait and service here was spotty but the pizza was worth it. I would disagree. It was pricey particularly since we HAD to dine in. Unfortunately we had a second groupon (the deal came with two) so we gave the other one to a friend (along with ample warning). Our friend encountered the same slow service and soggy pizza. Definitely won't be going back.

The food was delicious and the place is super cute. I think the service is the reason they are not busier. The service was not very good and may be why there is a groupon out for them.
(4)Kenneth W.
One of the best crust I have had, wood fired oven. Very European style, dotted here & there with toppings. Tomato sauce is bland, I'm not a salt freak, but I actually had to salt the pizza. Service is good as long as you don't get the owner's wife.

Had a Groupon Now promo for $10 off and decided to try Tivoli. I am certainly glad I did. I found myself wondering how I never knew they were here and learned they've been around almost 2 years. Charming, friendly little wood fired pizzeria just south of The Hill. Simple menu, but wonderful variety. Prices are reasonable, $9-$15 for a 12 inch pizza. If it hadn't been for all the rave reviews on the gyro pizza I would not have known what to get as several pizzas caught my eye. Food came out and mine was just as it sounds, like eating a gyro on pizza crust. Wonderfully chewy crust baked with olive oil and gyro meat, then topped out of the oven with lettuce, cool-creamy tsaziki, and some of the freshest tomatoes I've ever eaten. Just check out the picture I posted. Does that not look delicious? Total bill for 2 pizzas, a soda and a water came to just under $30. Thanks to the Groupon, $13 including the tip. Will definitely be returning even without a coupon, it's that good. My only suggestion to you is to go during off hours as it is a small local joint with about 10 or so tables. But do try Pizzeria Tivoli, you won't be disappointed.
(5)Cheryl F.
We really love this place. It is very small, but has a great patio during warmer months. The pizza is the BEST! The owner, who is always there and very nice built the brick pizza oven himself. I thought the wine was good and they have Peroni on tap!

I ordered a pepperoni pizza for takeout tonight. I was told to come in 15-20 minutes but I got there in about 12 and the pizza was ready. It was more expensive than I thought so they must have old menus online. I live less than a minute away but when I got home it was cold. To the point that the cheese was gloves on, not melts at all. When I pulled a piece onto my plate all the toppings came off - clumped together. Ew. It was so greasy too. I put toppings back on, already kind of mad that i had just wasted $14. I heated it up a bit so it would be edible then used 3 paper towels to blot it. It was just the oddest pizza. It wasn't the worst I've ever had but can't hold a candle to pi or pastaria. I'd really give it about 2 1/2 but the staff was nice enough and I do think the actual quality of cheese warrants at least 3. I'm actually quite bummed by this place! Being super pregnant, I'm looking for good takeout places in Princeton heights for when baby arrives and we are too tired to cook. But now I'm lying here starving because it just wasn't good enough to waste calories on, wishing I had my $14!!!!

Definitely one of those 'hidden gem' type places that make me sad I hadn't known about it before. It's been open for 2 years and we tried it for the first time on Sunday. I AM IN LOVE WITH PIZZERIA TIVOLI. The service was attentive without being annoying. They were just genuinely happy to invite us in, like friends. We shared a spinach & ricotta pizza with added panchetta, and yeah, it's just as delicious as it sounds. The brick oven firing took no time at all! We even let our server talk us into a piece of carrot cake, which was awesome. Atmosphere is relaxed. When it warms up we'll definitely spend some time on the gorgeous little patio outside. Prices were very reasonable. We had a pizza, 2 glasses of wine, and dessert (plus adding a huge tip, because they deserved it), for around $40. Satisfying and an all-around great experience.

Best non-St. Louis style pizza I've ever had.
(4)Bill K.
Delicious pizza baked in a wood-fired oven.
(4)Megan M.
I love this place so hard! First and foremost, their pizza is delicious (hand tossed, cooked in a wood burning stove). This is a b-day dinner hot spot for my friends and I. I've been here several times and have never had a negative vibe about anything. Other great things: the staff is always very nice/helpful/funny, the atmosphere is great (inside or out on the patio), the bathroom is clean, the prices are good, and they have local craft brews available. I suggest checking their facebook or calling before you go because it is a small family-owned-operated business and they close down time to time for family stuff.
(5)Kelly R.
It's not the best pizza I've had, but it's certainly not the worst. You should know a few things going in: - This style is pretty traditional Italian Pizza. This can be good or bad, depending on what you're looking for. The crust is thin, but not St. Louis style, thin. It's still a traditional pizza dough, just much less of it. Personally, I love me some crust. I love the thick, crunchy-yet-soft bread from a thick pizza, and the thin crust doesn't do it for me. - They aren't liberal with the cheese. Again, not my preference. When I want pizza, I want my 'daily allowance of calcium' kind of cheese portions! - The pizza is wood fired which is pretty cool. It doesn't take too long for them to come out, either. - The price is decent and well in line with any specialty pizza place. I was with a few friends and we tried the gyro pizza and some sort of pizza with a ton of meat toppings. The meat pizza was good, and while the gyro pizza was excellent, it tasted like a gyro....which doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. If I want a gyro, I'll go to the Gyro Co. (shameless plug, I know). Regardless, the meal was enjoyable enough, just not my cup of tea....or slice of pizza, as you'd have it. I would come back if we happened to be meeting friends who suggested it, but I probably wouldn't come back on my own.

Love everything about this local joint. The ambiance, the friendly staff, the price, and lets not forget about pizza number 4 with mushrooms added. Mmmm mmmm!!
(4)Cortland M.
Had a great meal at Pizzeria Tivoli, a gem in the south city neighborhood. We usually walk here being so close, but tonight we drove since it was a snow/sleet/freezing rain day. The wife and I enjoyed their Caprese salad and the Tuto Carne pizza. We always love the salad; they swap the tomato for a sweet red pepper, which is surprisingly delicious. It was our first time ordering this pizza, and it was a mozzarella, ham, bacon and Italian sausage meddle. We both enjoyed it and the wife isn't usually a fan of sausage (insert dirty joke). We love this small but quaint joint; did I reiterate the other reviews of wood fired pizzas? Love having a Peroni on draught while enjoying real Italian fare; the Italian music in the background sets the tone. Mangia!

I have driven by this spot and wanted to check it out for some time. It looks charming and cozy, inside and out! It was chilly when we went, so just the small indoors was open. The sun room and patio at least triple the space, so warm months must make a big difference for Tivoli. Our welcoming was less than enthusiastic. We wanted to watch the end of the Cardinals game. We walked in during a commercial and asked to be sure, and were told by the hostess/waitress that she didn't know what was on, "Whatever is on is on." to be exact. Not sure how you could not know in a space that small, and, if you have a TV on, you should know. Later when the game was over we asked if we could switch it to the end of the Blues game. We were the only people there at that point, but were given a long story about how the owner that lives above the restaurant has the only remote, is home right now, but probably does not want to be disturbed. Okay....very strange conversations, almost lectures. If you don't want a TV, if it's not a fit for the type of establishment you want, get rid of it. I patronize plenty of establishments like that as well, just depending on what mood I am in. Okay, enough of that rant...! To drink, I had Peroni on tap, a rare treat. BF had house red, also good. We split the caprese salad, done with roasted red peppers here instead of tomatoes. This is a different and delicious combo...we both loved the flavor and added kick the peppers provide as opposed to the sweeter flavor of tomatoes. This also makes it a great offering year-round, without having to worry about the quality of tomatoes off season. We split the Mediterranean pizza, which was very tasty, with a flavorful and crisp crust. I was caught off guard with the whole kalamata olives, pit still in. I understand the quality issue, price point, etc, but it's not appealing to dig through your fresh, hot pizza to take them off to pit them yourselves when they are baked on, and tough to get just the right position in your mouth where you can "unpit" mid bite with all the other things going on. We caught it right away and had no issues, but I could see it being an issue for some. Reading through others reviews, I definitely feel like a missed out on something special here, and will be back for another try on the patio.
(3)Dan P.
Awesome!! No problems with service. Actually quite the opposite. That was a surprise considering some reviews. I'll go back for sure. My experience was great. My wife and I ordered two pizzas and a salad.
(5)Michelle W.
Holy Tivoli. This place is good. Despite all the great reviews I was still not sure about the place...I saw the pictures and I was a little concerned about the cheese situation. This pizza comes with clumps of mozzarella....I love a ton of cheese ALL OVER my pizza...yet this worked...and quite well. The hubby and I started with a Ceaser salad and it was amazing...creamy and flavorful dressing, freshly shaved parmesan cheese, and tasty croutons. We had two pizzas, the tutto carne, which had bacon, prosciutto, and Italian sausage. The other pizza was the Toscana with salami, onion, and prosciutto. Both pizzas were excellent with very fresh ingredients and I cannot wait to come back and try some of the other pizzas. Bonus: In addition to the standard parmesan cheese and pepper shaker, is the oregano shaker. Thanks for the extra option!
(5)Anne K.
Very good pizza! The gyro pizza was good, but not amazing; however, the cheese variety pizza was so delicious! We will definitely go back!
(4)Jono R.
Wow service was really terrible. I asked twice for water and never got it. My brothers wife asked another gentleman for my water to finally get it. Place didn't seem very crowded but it took 1 hour 15 minutes to get our pizzas. I'm building my own wood fired pizza oven which is why I wanted to check it out. I'm no professional builder, but I didn't like their oven. It's a Pompeii style that looks to be a prefab cast that has then been surrounded in red brick. Doesn't seem well insulated at all. Pizza was ok, and caprese salad had red bell peppers not tomatoes, and only two small wedges of pita bread for the whole salad. I won't go back.
(2)Dan S.
Owner is very pleasant and friendly. Sauce and crust are excellent. Crust has a good chew to it and the sauce has a good flavor balance. i got #20, the tuto-carne. i would definitely come here again.

Very good wood-fired pizza at a reasonable price. There are a number of other wood fired places in town, but at $10 for a cheese, this one is the best deal I've found in town. The quality doesn't suffer, either. My wife and I went on a Friday night around 6 pm. It had a few customers, but wasn't busy (so check it out!). We each had a pizza - her a mushroom pizza, and me a gyro pizza. Yes, gyro pizza. More on that in a moment. Her mushroom pizza was great - it was a white pizza, with nice pieces of mozzarella and big chunks of cooked mushrooms on top. We both thought it was pretty spectacular. My pizza, though, was so weird that it was good. A nice crispy, but not burnt, crust, lovingly smothered with just the right amount of feta cheese. On top of that, gyro meat (YUM!), tomatoes, lettuce, onions, and tzatziki sauce. I really liked this, and it was just like a gyro on a nice crispy pizza crust. Overall, the menu is small, with 2 appetizers, 3 salads, and a dozen or so pizzas (or make your own). The drink menu was standard, a few wines, a handful of beers, and a full bar. The service was nice and attentive, and the rest of the staff was pretty nice. I'd highly recommend checking them out in south city.

This restaurant has very good pizza and salads. Reminded me of the pizza in Italy. It has a nice outdoor patio.

I so want to give more stars because this place has potential; it's in my neighborhood and I love pizza places, but I experienced some serious issues last night. We walked in around 7:00 on a Sunday and the place was about half full. It's really small (about 9 tables and maybe 6 seats at the bar) so I wasn't sure if you sat yourself or waited for someone to seat you. I took a few steps in and made eye contact with the woman behind the bar who was looking at me, but made no attempt to step forward and greet us. I saw her mouth move, but didn't hear what she said since she was too far away so I said we had a party of two and she vaguely waved toward the closest 2-person table. So I'm still not really sure what the seating etiquette is. We sat down and she brought over menus. The menu is simple - pizza, a few salads, and two appetizers - so we were ready to order within two minutes, but we sat there for probably closer to seven. Not a huge deal, but we were clearly ready to order since we were just sitting there staring at each other and she walked by us several times. When she came over we ordered a pepperoni pizza and two drinks. She brought out the drinks right away and I'd like to point out that my husband's soda was served in a plastic cup, but my iced tea was served in a real glass. I really appreciated this because for some reason I much prefer iced tea out of a real glass glass. But, it wasn't brewed, it was a brand straight out of the soda fountain. After we came in and were seated, two other groups of people came in - one group at the bar and another at a table behind us. After we ordered and had been sitting there for about 15 minutes I look over and notice that the guys at the bar, who each ordered their own pizza, had been served as well as the two guys behind us, who too had ordered two pizzas. And the guys at the bar were halfway done with theirs. I'm not really sure how all the people that came in after us were served their pizza so much sooner. When our pizza was served it tasted really good. It's hand-tossed and cooked in a real brick oven. It was covered in plenty of mozzarella and pepperoni. But, the inside crust was so thin and so soaked in grease that it was impossible to eat with your hands. It would just flop straight down it was so limp. And they only serve a 10" pie, so if you're really hungry one might not be enough for two people. By the time we finished everyone else had cleared out. Our drinks were refilled once - after we had finished eating. And, though, the woman cleared our plates she didn't bring us our bill. So we're sitting there and sitting there while she's behind the bar adding up receipts. Finally, I stand up and put on my coat, which brought her over in a hurry. Then, with our credit card sticking out of the booklet thing, she proceeded to walk by us twice busing the other table. And this woman is one of the owners, judging from the reviews that were framed on the wall with her picture on them. So this meal took over an hour. A meal that consisted of one 10" pepperoni pizza that took maybe 10 minutes to eat. Service was horrible and I can't even blame it on busy-ness since we were the only ones there by the end of our meal. It's such a small place so I would think they would be interested in a quick turnover. I guess not. I'm not sure I'll be back unless I have a ton of time to wait for an OK pizza.
(2)Kik W.
Wonderful service. We walked in less than 30 minutes before closing and were treated like friends. Delicious pizza. Fresh salads. Decent beer selection. Good wine too. I can't believe we waited this long to eat here! We will definitely be back.

I have been to this place three times now, each time having a better experience than the last. The first time I visited was just a few weeks after they opened during the summer. We sat on the patio during a lovely, perfect summer evening. Our waitress greeted us promptly and handed us our menus. Their offerings were sparse, but succinct - I knew this ahead of time, per previous reviews. We ordered the margherita pizza and the "four cheese" pizza. A quick 15 minutes later, our pizzas arrived piping hot and looking outstanding. I will be honest, when I first saw them, I was a SMIDGE disappointed - they were a bit smaller than I anticipated, and everything seemed unevenly distributed over the pizza. Upon first bite, however, I knew I was in for a treat. The pizza has that perfect crust, in my opinion - slightly crisp, chewy, and just flexible enough to be folded over and eaten "New York-style." Tangy sauce, fresh mozzarella, and a true wood-fired taste really sent this pizza over the top. Both the margherita and the four-cheese were delicious, and after each piece came the difficult choice of which kind to choose next. Fast forward a few months, to a few weeks ago. We decided to walk down, since it is just a block or so from our house. This time we sat inside at the counter, as it was chilly and crisp outside. We had a good view of the wood-fired oven, and began a nice conversation with the pizza-maker (a big, super friendly Italian guy from NYC). This time we ordered the Italian sausage pizza and the pizza topped with feta cheese, gyro meat, tomatoes, lettuce, and tzatziki sauce. The sausage pizza was delicious, with true spicy Italian-sausage thrown liberally on top. However, the real standout was the "gyro pizza", as we called it. I HIGHLY recommend this pizza! Folded over, it was akin to eating a hot, fresh gyro with crispy chewy crust. Completely to die for. Last visit was a few days ago with my neighbor, and I suggested the "gyro" pizza to split, and we both ordered a salad. The caprese salad was outstanding, and beautifully presented - sliced tomatoes and fresh mozzarella, stacked, drizzled with olive oil and balsamic, topped with fresh basil, and served with a couple of bread points. She apparently enjoyed her caesar salad, as well, because she cleaned her plate... and I swear a frown crossed her face as she took her last bite. A glass of Peroni and a pizza later, I cannot recommend this place highly enough. I challenge you to set aside your notion of what "pizza" is in St. Louis, and expand your palate to include the wood-fired, Italian way.

I drive by this intersection countless times during the week -- and the space has always intrigued me, since I saw the former tenant (a bakery of sorts) open and close within what seemed like a matter of minutes. So I was really excited when I saw that a wood-oven pizzeria was about to be our new neighbor! I looove pizza! Anyway, I stopped by last night for a carryout order, since Onesto is closed on Tuesdays (don't even get me started on that) and the boy was swamped with work at home, making a trek to Pi or Dewey's impossible. I only waited 10-15 minutes for my order and the space is nice -- clean and modern, with two flat screen TVs and a bar. The employees were very pleasant, too. The menu, however, needs to be beefed up a bit -- if only by adding more pizza sizes! My eyes immediately went to the Margherita pizza, but all of their pies are only available as a 12". So I tacked on an order of bruschetta and a caesar salad to fill our tummies. All total, the bill was about $22 -- not too shabby. Paired with a bottle of red wine at home, this turned into a rather nice meal. The bruschetta was particularly yummy and topped with plenty of fresh tomatoes. But again, we each could've eaten another slice of pizza. (Oh who am I kidding, we could have eaten at least two more slices!) So next time we might order another. (Stop judging.) My only other concern is that the "Pizzeria Tivoli" name is a snore, which makes me question their branding potential -- I would, after all, like to see this place stick around!
(3)Kent M.
Good. Would go back. Small family owned place with decent pizza. Kind of hard to find but definitely worth the trip.
(4)Connie R.
This place is cute and the pizza is good. I really loved the caesar salad. The greek pizza looks fantastic. There are many vegetarian options. My favorite pizza is the mediterranean, my least favorite the bianca (it is just kind of bland). The crust was very crisp on my last visit, actually perfect, I would say! Great patio! Will definitely keep going back.
(4)Clift K.
Patio is now open and even more exciting is the fact that they are in the process of adding even more covered seating on the side so they can accommodate even more diners! The addition will also even allow them to enclose it in the Winter time, so they can seat more customers. It has been so exciting to watch them grow, better yet, that should be telling you something about their food and service!
(5)Kelli S.
Purchased a Groupon Now for this restaurant after hearing good things about it, and I'm definitely not sorry I did! The staff was super friendly and very responsive. The salads were big and tasty. And the pizza was excellent! Fresh ingredients, cooked perfectly in their wood-burning oven, with interesting combinations -- not your usual St. Louis pizza joint. This place will be going on my "favorites" list!
(4)Bob R.
Have been to this place several times always had good service. Last night went into this place to eat with out family. We ordered soda's and my wife wanted a sweet ice tea. We called the waitress over to tell her the tea tasted funny could she give us a new sweet tea. The tea tasted like it was Raspberry. So when the waitress came over she wanted to stand there and argue with us that is the tea we asked for. I told her no my wife wanted a sweet tea not raspberry. She acted like we were wrong and wanted to continue arguing about it. I believe the owner came over and diffused the situation with her and told us no problem he would make fresh tea. The fresh tea came out dark and tasted like coffee. At this point we were done trying to get the correct drink and just wanted to leave. The waitress was obviously in a bad mood for whatever reason and wanted to vent her attitude towards my wife and kids. For us to spend $50.00 at this place for 3 pizza's and soft drinks and to have the waitress act like a crab ass is unacceptable. If you are having a bad day thats fine but don't come to work with a chip on your shoulder and take it out on paying customers. The door never keeps people inside who don't want to work there is always an exit. We will not return to this place if we have another person get ticked off because she can't bring the right drink. Thanks.

I am a fan of this hidden Italian gem. Will go back. Food was great. Service was friendly and the atmosphere was classy.

So, if you feel you've got to head over the river for good wood-fired pizza, turn your car around and head south down Kingshighway to Pizzeria Tivoli. This is a charming, rustic little place (with the exception of two flat screen televisions.) The menu is limited to simple salads and pizzas--so if you're looking for pastas, go somewhere else. These delicious pies have a great chewy thin crust, lots of cheeses, and plenty of sauce. We had the margherita and the Bianca with chicken; both were quite tasty. Next time, I'm taking Paul T's advice and getting the gyro pie. Word of warning: check their hours before you go. I don't think they are open for lunch.
(5)Barbara P.
We visited this pizzeria tonight with my mother and young daughter. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The pizza very much reminded me of the pizza we had while in Italy. Although I'll agree with the other reviewer that it would have been nice to have a sausage option! We had the Cesar Salad which was quite tasty. Also the wine was very reasonable by the glass. We also had the chicken, artichoke heart, and red pepper pizza which was very good and the pepperoni pizza. We also ordered dessert. Both the Tirmisu and chocolate cake were lovely. The coffee we received was strong, fresh brewed and delicious without and cream or sugar. I would definitely like to go back.

I found this restaurant one night with a friend while looking for a decent pizzeria with pizza that might be comparable to NY style. Well, this pizzeria takes the cake! Like everyone has already stated, the menu is incredibly simple. With a few small appetizers on one side, and the other side lists all of the specialty pizzas they have available. I have been there 2 or 3 times now and have always ordered the pepperoni pizza. I have not personally tried their salads, but a few friends have and they enjoyed them. The only appetizer I have had is the bruschetta which was just okay, nothing special. The prices are decent and the staff is very nice, but a bit slow to get back around to your table, even if not incredibly busy. I believe the waitress that I always get happens to be one of the owners, as previously stated.

Read about this place a year ago finally got to go well worth it for any hardcore pizza fans

This place is absolutely FANTASTIC! Found this place on Yelp when looking for pizzerias around my neighborhood. Although I live only 5 minutes away, I never knew this place existed, and what a hidden gem it is. The pizza is to die for, with hand-tossed chewy and crispy crust you can watch them make and then slide in the wood oven. The sauce is great and perfectly spiced, the cheese is big globs of fresh mozzarella that stretch in strings just like it's supposed to, and the toppings are authentic Italian. The leftovers the day after still taste amazing! I will absolutely be going back here in the very near future and I would go so far as to say this is the best pizza I have ever had-this coming from someone who has eaten pizza in Italy. If you're thinking about going here to eat, do it! You won't be sorry.

Closest pizza to Italy we have found. Went with the parents, and theTiviloi Salad was big enough to share. We split the Caprese (with roasted red peppers instead of tomatoes) will seasoned and a good portIon for two. We each a 12 inch pie, with leftovers to take home. Baked in the woodburning oven, each pie had a slightly chewy crust. The toppings were fresh. We ordered a Bianca, a Funghi, Hadrian's, and a Toscano. All could be repeat orders. Tiramisu for desert was presented well and had a great flavor and consistency. Dinner for four (2 sodas, 1 really great tea, and H2O): $80

FINALLY tried Pizzeria Tivoli last night with my most pizza loving friend. Alas, my friend had noshed on pizza for his previous two meals and ordered lasagna instead of pizza...wow, VERY DELICIOUS LASAGNA! I ordered the pizza Tutto Carne which was nice, chewy crust, just enough sauce and cheese, and three meats including an interesting sausage which was almost buttery! We shared a Tivoli salad - very good and served with bread which appeared to be made from the pizza dough and finished with a sprinkle of salt....My dining companion wouldn't be quiet about the deliciousness of the wood fired bread, and asked for more to sop up his lasagna sauce. Thankfully they were generous with his second helping of bread ...I was able to wrestle 2 pieces away from him and steal the rest of his lasagna sauce. I'm so sorry I didn't go here sooner, and can't wait to go back for the Mediterranean Pizza!

Let me preface this by saying that I'm a transplant to Saint Louis, and I have a taste for Detroit pizza (Buddy's, Jet's). Thus, I've never really felt that much affection for the thinner persuasion of pizza such as communion wafer with Velveeta oops, I mean Imo's. Well I would consider this to be thin crust, but its by far the best of the thins I've had. Chewy, flavorful crust is what anchors this pie, and with a foundation that strong, it's hard to mess up. Everything that I've had there has been wonderful, and the owner has always gone the extra mile. That being said, the menu is small, and I could understand how some might not have their tastes met. Picky eaters, like some children or your in-laws may complain. Also, every time I've gone I've avoided rush times so I'm rarely there with the crowd, so I can't speak to how it is at the dinner rush, but I've never been disappointed with the service. Highly recommend you check it out.

Fabulous true Italian style Pizza in a very European cafe style restaurant!
(5)Mindy V.
my favorite pizza in st louis, hands down. i can tell that the owners are really eager to please and my servers have always been very attentive. the pizza is yummy and the crust is flavorful. the menu is small, but i view it as the owners concentrating on making a few items really well instead of many items just ok (cheesecake factory, anyone?). the restaurant itself is small as well, but they do have a nice outdoor patio area. i love coming here!

The pizza here is a bit pricy but incredibly tasty! But the service was even better! My friend and I were the quirky customers where our conversation was all over the place and she just rolled with the punches. We had some ongoing jokes throughout the evening which made our experience there much better. My friend and I split 2 pizzas and were able to order 1 to eat and then the second after finishing the first. Our server made great suggestions for beer pairings and more.

Solid 3.5 Rating, which would have been higher had our waitress been more attentive and decided to check back on us after our food arrived or offer us a refill on our empty drinks which sat on the table while our waitress was missing in action. Pizza here are small, but slightly larger than a personal pizza however don't let that make you think that you are going to get by with splitting a pizza. The table went with two pizzas, we ordered both the Quattro Formaggi and the Bianca. Both were good however the Quattro Formaggi was better overall. Pizza here are wood fired and cooked in a large brick oven for only a few minutes at high heat. The crust is delicious and you can tell that the ingredients are high quality. Prices are slightly on the higher side, however the quality helps balance things out a bit. Overall Pizzeria Tivoli is a good upscale pizza joint, however their customer service could use some slight improvements.

I'm amazed that people like this place. I was disappointed. It was on my list of places to try and so I ordered take out. I was surprised to find they only had one size pizza. I went to pick up the margarita pizza and she handed me a cold box. Once I got home and opened the box I was very surprised that the pizza was not what one would expect. Their was very little sauce, the cheese was cut thickly in a circle and glopped down in a few places (not melted) and the entire pizza was cold. The taste was very bland, no seasoning at all just cold and tasteless. Don't think I will return.

Another amazing meal at Tivoli last night. We had the Bianca and the Toscona pizza and both were delish. The Bianca was the star of the meal with the smoked garlic and lots of cheese. This is not your St. Louis style pizza and you will find no provel here but man are the pizzas good! Tossed by hand (in front of you if you sit at the bar) and baked in a gigantic brick oven. The best of its kind in the South Side.

What a hidden little gem! I met some friends here on a Sunday night and we sat outside and enjoyed our pizza and wine. The patio is ample and is off the street enough to be relaxing and still get the city neighborhood vibe I love. Huge kudos because they have gluten free pizza! Yum! And the Caprese salad with the roasted red peppers is delicious. I will be back for both!

They have an adorable patio with a fire pit. It always smells like wood fire goodness inside and out. The owner is very friendly. I love the greek pizza, just like a gyro but on a wood fire crust - aaaaamazing! I think about this pizza and have to indulge once a month! The greek is so good I haven't branched out but I'm sure the other choices don't disappoint! A charming neighborhood spot!
